Commitments of Friends and Families Foundation
Youth Development
The Friends and Families Foundation, Inc. provides school-based youth development and character education programs in collaboration with the Newark Public Schools for students in grades 5 through 12.
 These programs provide tools to youth empowering them to make healthy decisions concerning sex, violence, drugs and alcohol, and choosing to participate in activities that lead youth into responsible, caring, educated and contributing parents and adults. These youth, now powerfully skilled, can envision and achieve their own future. Our featured programs are Best Friends, Best Men, Diamond Girls and Best Men Leadership. Current plans include expanding these programs in school districts throughout New Jersey.
Media is a powerful influence on youth and is also a creative art form of communication. The Friends and Families Foundation, Inc. intends to employ this art form to support positive messages of self-investment, self-actualization and personal responsibility so that families and their children can secure their heartfelt visions.
Summer and after-school time are pivotal periods for youth. School is out and opportunities for productive and fun learning are often missing. Friends and Families Foundation, Inc. will initiate a series of programs and services that will utilize summer and after-school time to engage youth and their families in a variety of activities: summer camp; community investment, marketable skill development and economic literacy
Family Investment
This family program is the foundation’s newest initiative and focuses on establishing and expanding family investment centers. The purpose of these centers is to afford parents and their children channels through which user-friendly communication can occur between parents and children; among parents and school district officials and personnel; and within family communities. These centers will also link parents to economic and training opportunities and other community services available and needed to support sustainable health and financial wellness.
Fundraising
Our annual and other fundraising activities are designed to engage our friends and partners and celebrate our success. Friends and Families Foundation, Inc. also uses fundraising as an opportunity to support selected community projects of our youth and their families. As an experienced and valued not-for-profit organization, Friends and Families Foundation, Inc. continues to honor our partners by continuing high standards of achievement and financial responsibility.
